EXIT 23 2025
A street sign is installed in two urban locations in Aachen and Essen, Germany respectively. The signs direct the public through a QR code to a live webcam stream of EXIT 23, located 6005 km away, at an undisclosed location.
The sign installed in Aachen, was included in the temporary exhibition Detective Show X, curated by Robert Kaltenhäuser and Lene ter Haar, a group exhibition of urban interventions, located collectively at undisclosed locations within the post industrial urbanscape of Moltkepark, Aachen, August 16-18, 2025. The inspiration for Detektive Show X was the 1978 historical exhibit the Detective Show organized by US artist John Fekner in Gorman Park, Queens, New York.
The second sign installed at the entrance of Rheinischer Platz Ubahn station, was an ‘uncommissioned’ extension of City of Play, Essen.
Both signs were left in place with the live stream planned for 12 months.
